Acceptable Use Policy
1. Scope of This Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to all users of Tao Climate Scope, including subscribers, account administrators, invited users, and any individual accessing or entering data through the platform. It forms part of the Terms of Service.
By using Scope, you agree to this AUP. Violations may result in suspension or termination of your account.
2. Data Integrity Requirements
Scope is a sustainability reporting platform. The accuracy and integrity of data you enter is your responsibility. You must:
- Enter emissions figures, energy data, and other sustainability metrics that are, to the best of your knowledge, accurate and based on verifiable sources.
- Disclose the basis for estimates where exact figures are unavailable.
- Not knowingly enter false, fabricated, or materially inflated or deflated emissions data.
- Review reports and dashboard outputs before sharing or publishing them externally.
3. Prohibited Activities
The following activities are strictly prohibited on the Scope platform:
4. Public Dashboard Responsibilities
If you enable the optional public-facing sustainability dashboard, you take on additional responsibilities as the publisher of that information:
- You are the publisher and are legally responsible for the content of your public dashboard under applicable EU law, including the EU Directive on Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition (2024/825).
- You must ensure that claims made on your public dashboard are substantiated, accurate, and not misleading.
- You must not use your public dashboard to imply third-party verification, certification, or endorsement that you have not obtained.
- You should review and update your public dashboard at least annually, or whenever material changes to your emissions profile occur.
5. Tao Climate's Right to Act on Violations
Tao Climate reserves the right to:
- Flag data anomalies. We may contact you if our systems detect patterns consistent with data fabrication (e.g., emissions figures that are statistically inconsistent with your reported company profile).
- Suspend or remove a public dashboard without prior notice if it appears to contain obviously false, fraudulent, or legally non-compliant information - particularly where immediate action is necessary to prevent harm to third parties.
- Suspend or terminate your account for material breach of this AUP, with or without prior notice depending on the severity of the violation.
- Cooperate with regulatory investigations. If we receive a lawful request from a regulatory authority relating to your use of the platform, we will comply as required by applicable law.
Before taking action, we will ordinarily notify you and give you an opportunity to respond, unless the urgency of the situation or the nature of the breach makes this impractical.
6. Reporting Concerns
If you believe another user is misusing the platform - including publishing false sustainability data - please contact us at support@taoclimate.com with details. We treat all reports confidentially.
7. Consequences of Violation
Violations of this AUP may result in:
- A formal warning and requirement to correct the data
- Suspension of the public dashboard feature
- Temporary suspension of account access
- Termination of your subscription without refund
- Reporting to relevant regulatory authorities where required by law
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated with at least 14 days' notice. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated AUP.
